From Lahti to the Philippines: A Finnish Tiger Sandwich

A unique exhibition of non-Nordic work by young Finnish photographers opened last week in Helsinki. “Tiger Sandwich” examines angels, bellies, fishermen, streets, dogs, gold miners, prostitutes, sex tourism and slaughter houses in the Phillipines as well as some images from the streets of Paris. The exhibition runs to March 1, 2015.

Featuring the work of 15 young Finnish photographers, Tiger Sandwich is a exhibition of work conducted over a three week period in the Philippines during Spring 2014. The work includes documentary series, street photos, portraits and two books.

The photographers are Matti Aalto, Stefan Bremer, Vilja Harala, Emil Helotie, Utu-Tuuli Jussila, Saana Kotila, Hanna Linnove, Petra Lönnqvist, Miikka Pihlajamäki, Alena Roots, Elsa Rusi, Miia Rytkönen, Sanni Siira, Jonne Sippola and Akseli Valmunen. The photographers are all students of Lahti University of Applied Sciences Institute of Design and Fine Arts.
